The Thompson sub-machine gun or better know as the "Tommy Gun" was developed by General John T. Thompson. The Tommy gun was different from other guns because it was semi-automatic and wasn't as heavy as a machine gun. Instead of bolt action, where you could only fire a single shot a time, the Tommy gun allowed you to fire a multitude of rounds with the pull of a trigger.

Flamethrowers were used in WW1 but were used more heavily in WW2. They made the flamethrower portable as you see in the picture. The gas chamber is on the back and the flamethrower comes around the body and aims towards front. Although the flame thrower was portable, it had big problems. It was heavy and and burned out of fuel quickly so the operator had to be careful about how he used it. The flamethrower was obviously very visible when used so it was easy for the operator to be spotted on the battle field.
